Remote Education & Google Classrooms

As we continue to adapt to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud to offer excellent online provision in these unprecedented times. To assist students with learning from home on Google Classrooms we will be posting all frequently asked questions on this page.

SHFGS Information about our remote education - January 2021

Parents will not be able to access the school's Google Classroom pages themselves. Only students who attend the school will be able to access their pages using their school account.

All work will be set by teachers on Google Classroom and students should follow their normal school timetable at home.

Some teachers may wish to teach students online using Google Meet. Students will find instructions on how to use Google Meet on the whole school Google Classroom page that they have signed up for.

Q. How do I connect a student chrome book to a Television or monitor at home?

A. The best way is via an HMDI cable from device to screen (assuming most screens have an HDMI input). However Chromebooks do not all have an HMDI output, so you may need an adapter depending on the device you have. Try looking at an online shopping site such as Amazon and search for a “chromebook hdmi adapter”

Once you have connected your Chromebook, in the same way as a laptop, you can “extend” or duplicate the screen and have this on the larger screen at home.
